I missed my window to post in the P52 circle for the theme last week but I still wanted to get my images posted here for independence.  There are occasions when Gavin is super cooperative with me and my camera.  Then there are occasions when he is not.  We were out for lunch on July 4th and sitting on this perfectly shaded deck outside with great peeling yellow paint.  He was sitting on the bench & I could see the light reflecting in his eyes.  If only I had gotten the shot I thought I wanted it would have been one for the portfolio.  Instead I got a few that illustrate his age, how fast he is growing up, and his independence.  I am grateful for these images.  I am grateful for his independence.  And I am grateful for this life of mine.

Many things happened when we moved from Texas to California last year but one of the best things was that Scott didn’t have to travel for work anymore. This left him with significantly more time to spend with Gavin. He spent most mornings dropping Gavin off at preschool which gave them that time in the car together before the day started that I was accustomed to having. They love to joke and play around. I love to see them joke and play around. Sometimes they even let me try to capture those moments on camera. Like in these images. These two guys are my family and I would be lost without them.

Sitting still and waiting. Waiting for a shot taken right from where I am sitting. I took a few throughout the day and there is just something about the way Gavin’s eyelashes are in focus in this one but the rest looks dreamy that made me want to keep looking. Shot from my spot. A calm quiet moment from a ever moving boy.
