This is me!

About Allison Jacobs Photography

About me... I love Starbucks soy latte with 2 pumps of hazelnut. I think that learning my Droid X came with a Kindle reader already installed was a wonderful surprise. Celebrate is my word for 2011. The best thing about the weekend is spending it with my family. I believe I was born to live near the ocean. I am a runner. Learning about photography everyday makes me happy. I learned how to cook from watching the Food Network. Hmmm....that is not everything about me but hopefully it is enough for you to look through my blog and maybe leave me a comment or 2 so I know you were here! XOXO

light | P52 | aliso creek beach

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

There is something magical about the light here in southern California and there is no lack of light at the beach. These were taken about one hour before sunset when the sun was hovering over the water and reflecting off almost every surface.

Over the past year I have joined together with 10 other women to post an image focusing on the same theme each week through The Bloom Forum. This circle is not only given me a focus for the week for my photography but it is also inspirational. Be sure to see what Melanie Kay Photography – Thousand Oaks Child Portrait Photographer has found this week.

It’s getting cooler outside so you can layer up with some scarves and sweaters for cozy family portraits just like the ones shown here!

Dana Point Harbor | Dana Point, California

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

A few weeks ago the theme for P52 was structure.  I thought that Dana Point Harbor would be a great place to head to capture this word in pictures.  Unfortunately the weather was gray & dreary along with the harbor.  I uploaded my shots then walked away thinking I didn’t get anything I would want to use.  This week I decided to look back and what I captured (thankfully) and I was surprised to see some images I liked.   We have been to the harbor a few times to eat, watch the sunset, and go into the shops there.  It is a fun way to spend some time.

So, if you haven’t already heard of and joined Pinterest then I suggest you follow this link and go right now!

It is like a bulletin board, file cabinet, online notebook for all those pages pulled from a magazine that you want to keep in one place. Seriously. I started with just a few boards since I wasn’t totally sure how I would use it but now I think I may need to expand. My favorite boards are for tracking fun recipes {some of which look awesome but that just may be some good food photography skills} and great outfit inspiration {although I have noticed that I tend to pin the exact.same.styles. all the time}.

Here is a screen shot of what some of my boards look like right now.

If you have a blog you can also add a Pinterest button at the end of your blog post. There are some buttons you can use on the Pinterest website here and you can also read an article on the Clickinmoms blog about that too.

If you are already on Pinterest link me up in the comments so I can make sure to follow you!
