This is me!

About Allison Jacobs Photography

About me... I love Starbucks soy latte with 2 pumps of hazelnut. I think that learning my Droid X came with a Kindle reader already installed was a wonderful surprise. Celebrate is my word for 2011. The best thing about the weekend is spending it with my family. I believe I was born to live near the ocean. I am a runner. Learning about photography everyday makes me happy. I learned how to cook from watching the Food Network. Hmmm....that is not everything about me but hopefully it is enough for you to look through my blog and maybe leave me a comment or 2 so I know you were here! XOXO

mothering | P52 {temecula, CA photographer}

When I think of mothering one thing to pops to mind immediately is nurturing. There are so many ways to nurture. Food, hugs, kind words, encouragement, prayer. The list could go on and on but for the purpose of this theme this week I will go with food. Specifically, cupcakes. I know they are trendy right now & the cupcake boutiques are popping up on every corner and I have to admit that I love them. I love the thought of a fresh baked cupcake picked out and shared with someone I love like my sweet son. There is just something about sharing a good meal with family. Something about making sure that those people you love are healthy and happy plus enjoying a treat along the way. I wish for my son that he can feel my love when we bake together in the kitchen then enjoy savoring a bite of those wonderful cupcakes. I wish that he will always feel loved and nurtured.

When I saw the Roosevelt Hotel with the sun just behind the corner of the building I couldn’t stop looking. It was like I could almost see the old Hollywood stars of days gone by heading into this grand building dressed in all their elegance. When we walked through the lobby although they were doing some renovations I still stood amazed with the details of the hotel. Someday I would love to go back to stay.

We stopped for a drink on the patio out by the pool. Enjoying the sun. Enjoying spending time with friends. Enjoying the day.

This talented guy was playing right outside the Chinese Theater and he caught my eye. I submitted this image for a creative challenge on street photography and it won third place. You can see the blog post from Bloom here.

Gaviota | teenager {temecula, CA photographer}

There were two gorgeous teenagers who were great at sitting still while we all snapped away.  I can’t even put into words how strange it was to photograph someone who would stay still since I am usually chasing Gavin around hoping for a calm moment amidst the storm of energy.

heritage | p52 {temecula, CA photographer}

When I asked my husband what he thought of when I said the word heritage he said the old west.  Since I don’t have access to photograph the old west I went with my original idea of photographing my son.  To me heritage is defined not only by the people who came before me in my family but by the people who will come behind me.  Like my son.  From the day he was born there has been a close resemblance to my husband so I love when people say he looks like me since those comments are less common.  One thing we do have in common is my son’s interest in cameras and taking pictures.  This is something I love.  Maybe someday he will continue to document everyday life with a camera like I do.
