This is me!

About Allison Jacobs Photography

About me... I love Starbucks soy latte with 2 pumps of hazelnut. I think that learning my Droid X came with a Kindle reader already installed was a wonderful surprise. Celebrate is my word for 2011. The best thing about the weekend is spending it with my family. I believe I was born to live near the ocean. I am a runner. Learning about photography everyday makes me happy. I learned how to cook from watching the Food Network. Hmmm....that is not everything about me but hopefully it is enough for you to look through my blog and maybe leave me a comment or 2 so I know you were here! XOXO

patterns | P52 {temecula, ca photographer}

Patterns are all around us all the time. I love the comforting thought of patterns…the repeating theme…stability….knowing what to expect…knowing what comes next. I love the design element behind patterns too…the graphic clean feel behind repeating lines…the romance behind the pattern on a wedding quilt…the fresh cool feeling of the pattern in a yard of just cut grass. There is just something great about the patterns of life.

Next be sure to visit my friend Melanie Kay Photography – Thousand Oaks Portrait Photographer to see what she came up with for this week!

another vintage camera {temecula, ca photography)

I love the way the vintage and antique cameras look. I love thinking of the people who used them and I wonder about the photos they took. I can imagine the happy families on vacation or on holidays smiling at the camera. These cameras feel like they hold a treasure trove of memories.

All the roses seem to be in bloom everywhere I go in California right now. Well, actually it isn’t just the roses it is all the flowers everywhere. Seriously, everywhere. I am amazed by the beauty of it all.

It is all about perspective really.  How you look at things can make all the difference on your point of view.  Are you looking down at something?  Or up?  I tend to go low when I am photographing Gavin because I like to see things from his eye level.  This means I am even going so far as to lay down in the grass or on the floor when I am photographing him.  In this photo I was up above him.  Looking down & I was amazed at the difference it made in the image.  I tend to analyze everything & my photography doesn’t seem to escape that fate but I do hope that it makes me better each time.  Because isn’t that something we all strive for?  To better ourselves, better our lives, better the world for our children and loved ones?  I think I will continue to try to find different perspectives.

selective focus |P52 {temecula, ca photographer|}

It is time to explore. There are some big changes going on right now for me and one thing that I am working hard on is to remember that like in photography I can use selective focus in my life. I am planning on using this to focus on the path ahead of me, making plans and having faith that life is good. I am such a planner that letting go can be a struggle but from experience I have learned that sometimes letting go is the only way to be open to all the wonderful things in store. Like Gavin in this picture I know we will find just the perfect place to live, work and continue to build our life together. All the while selectively focusing on the blessings that we have.
