This is me!

About Allison Jacobs Photography

About me... I love Starbucks soy latte with 2 pumps of hazelnut. I think that learning my Droid X came with a Kindle reader already installed was a wonderful surprise. Celebrate is my word for 2011. The best thing about the weekend is spending it with my family. I believe I was born to live near the ocean. I am a runner. Learning about photography everyday makes me happy. I learned how to cook from watching the Food Network. Hmmm....that is not everything about me but hopefully it is enough for you to look through my blog and maybe leave me a comment or 2 so I know you were here! XOXO

I am slowly making my way through the images I took at that great blueberry farm outside of Santa Barbara. This cutie was super busy & I caught lots of images with movement but loved this one with the green grass sparkling behind her! You can see one of the other little ones here in this post.

I am really struggling with the words to describe how this photo illustrates the word renew to me. I looked for quotes on rest, restoration, and renewal from famous people & books but I was still stumped. The bottom line is that after a long day at work I felt overjoyed to see Gavin when I went to pick him up from preschool. I already had a photo chosen for this week but I was playing around with using my speedlight in the shade (not used for this photo below) while we read books and hung out in the backyard. When I loaded the images onto my computer this one caught my eye. All I could think about was the light & the peaceful look on Gavin’s face along with how perfectly it matched this week’s theme right at the last moment. I know that I felt renewed after spending quality time with Gavin this evening so maybe the memory speaks to me as loudly as the photo for representing renewal.

We headed to Los Angeles this past weekend with some friends who were visiting from Texas and I was determined to get some street style images after reading a ton about it lately. Most of the time when I see this style photography it is post processed (or shot) in black & white but I am such a color person that I just had to leave them in color. As we stepped out of the parking garage this sculpture was the first thing I saw & I love the bus reflection too.

We headed to eat at Umami Burgers and to shop at Fred Segal. Both were great.

As we walked from Fred Segal to the pier we passed by the doorway (gorgeous & covered in flowers) to The Ivy and crossed our fingers we might see a celebrity but no luck there.

Stayed tuned for some photos from Hollywood next!

earth/worldly | P52 {temecula, ca photographer}

As we wandered through the farmer’s market in Old Town Temecula last Saturday I couldn’t get the thought of how well the scene matched this week’s theme of earth/worldly. Fresh fruit, vegetables, and tons of flowers every where I looked. Spending time picking out the local organic food at the farmer’s market is something I can add to my list of things I love about living here. Since it was crowded I am guessing this hold true for a lot of people.

Be sure to head over to check out what Jennifer Bruss Photography – Upstate South Carolina Portrait Photographer came up with for the week!

Gaviota | the overalls {temecula, CA photographer}

What is cuter than a little boy in overalls at a blueberry farm?  I can’t think of anything right now off the top of my head!  A few weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity to meet up with 8 other photographers in Gaviota, California.  Our hostess Vernie was super kind to open her house to us for a meeting place and I was amazed by the gorgeous landscape she gets to enjoy every day.  Jen of Z’s the Day Photography was the one who organized the whole day including gathering families for us to photograph.  Be sure to check out her work because it is simply amazing.  Here is my favorite of this first little guy!
