Headed out last week in search of some bluebonnets and found this great patch of them that was perfect for photos (plus a few other wildflowers that unfortunately I can’t identify)!

Met up with these two cuties (and their mom of course since they aren’t old enough to drive yet…) at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. Wow, what a place. If you haven’t been there yet and you are close enough then I highly suggest it! Super gorgeous gardens which allowed me to get some wonderful portraits of these sisters!

So, as soon as I saw this shirt I just knew that I had to have it. I was already meeting up for a photo session at the Dallas Arboretum on Saturday so I asked the seller to ship it priority so that I would have it in time for G to wear! Here he is looking as cute as ever (just my opinion of course)!
**click here to see the Etsy store where I found it….along with a nice seller who sent it fast**

I am so glad that I had the chance to photograph this beautiful baby girl today and even though I have only edited a few photos I wanted to go ahead with a little sneak peek! Her big brother came and joined us for a bit…he worked well for the Easter candy he was offered…

One of the reasons I have fallen in love with photography is that with a camera in your hand you have the chance to capture all those everyday moments and freeze time. At every stage my son has gone through I have thought that I would remember those funny things he said or did forever but as he grows I find myself realizing that you do forget many of the small things. The big formal family portraits that can be framed in huge canvas sizes are great but there is something to be said about capturing the everyday too.

So, I haven’t figured out how to make a link at the top of my blog yet for Facebook but thought it would still be good to post the link in case you came across me through the web (unlike being my family or a friend…) and you want to follow me there to see what is new (there will be some new stuff coming soon…like products and news about locations). I am also planning to run some specials and other fun stuff through Facebook too so be sure to click below to become a fan!

Here is another sample of what to wear for your next photo session (don’t you just love these colors?). Places like Old Navy and Gap are great for dressing the whole family where the colors mesh but you aren’t all wearing the same exact thing. Another reason I love these sample outfits is because it is a great example of how you don’t need to get all dressed up for your family portraits but just wear clothes that are comfortable that you love.

These are from last week one day after school with full on sunshine going as my wonderful lighting (read as sarcasm since full on sunlight is way harsh for portraits). Great way to practice exposure (not blowing out the whites), spot metering (not blowing out the whites), and avoiding the dreaded shadows under the eyes (all while not blowing out the whites). As you can see (or maybe, hopefully they aren’t too noticeable) I did blow out some of the whites in this first photo but since it is of my son in the backyard it is still precious to me. And I love the way his eyelashes caught the light. Now that we are into the longer days and springtime weather I am looking forward to more chances to practice getting that perfect exposure straight out of the camera.
In this photo he had climbed under the slide which would have been the perfect place for me to practice spot metering for exposure if he wasn’t such a fast moving just turned four years old kid. I think I caught a cute expression and figured that at least the grandparents reading this post (you are reading this, right?) would appreciate it!
Then last but for sure not least here is a portrait of both my guys…

My friend asked me to swing by the other night to take a few snaps of her daughter before she went to a high school banquet where she was having the honor of getting her high school letter jacket. The girls looked gorgeous in their dresses. I felt like I was in a time warp taking the shots of the kids in the yard before they took off all dressed up for a fun night wondering where all the time has gone since it was me standing in the yard smiling at all the grown ups wondering how many more cameras we had to smile at before leaving.
